United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) is planning to invest up to USD200 million in the next ten years, aiming at improving the experience of passengers arriving at the archipelago, Honolulu Star-Adviser has reported.

"We couldn't be more supportive of a faster, better modernization of the state airports that is the image of Hawaii to the millions of tourists that come here. It couldn't be more needed. All of us that fly here constantly have seen the effects of time," Munoz said.

The airline also said that it would adjust its schedules to Hawaii from its mainland US hubs to improve the connectivity.

According to the ch-aviation, United currently operates 225 weekly departures out of Hawaii, serving a total of five airports in the archipelago: Honolulu, Kahului, Kona, Lihue, and Hilo. The majority of the flights are domestic, except for flights out of Honolulu to each of Tokyo Narita (7x weekly), Guam International (7x weekly), and Majuro (4x weekly).
