Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) has announced it would terminate its London Gatwick-Singapore Changi route on January 12, 2018, due to low demand. The service is currently the only Asian route operated by the carrier's UK-based subsidiary, Norwegian UK (London Gatwick).

Norwegian UK currently flies to Singapore 4x weekly using B787-9 equipment.

In terms of the Norwegian Group's Far Eastern network, the Oslo-based parent company will continue to operate out of each of its main bases, namely Oslo Gardermoen, Copenhagen Kastrup, and Stockholm Arlanda to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi year-round and to Krabi during the winter season only.

The LCC group said it would use the free Norwegian UK's capacity to launch services to Brazil, most likely to Rio de Janeiro International. In South America, the carrier currently only flies to Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini.

Norwegian is also looking at selling all Airbus A320neo it has on order, CFO Geir Karlsen was quoted as telling the investors by Reuters. According to the ch-aviation fleets module, the group has sixty-five A320neo and thirty-five A321neo(LR)s on order with the manufacturer. The carrier could either sell the A321neo or place them with the nascent Norwegian Air Argentina (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) unit.

"The problem is not to sell them but to get the price we want. Hopefully, by the end of the year we should be able to disclose news on a transaction," Karlsen said.

The carrier would also be looking at selling some B737-800s as new B737-8s join its fleet. The group already operates eleven Boeing MAX twinjets and has a further 102 on order with the manufacturer.
