Primera Air Scandinavia (PF, Billund) has announced it will start transatlantic flights out of Madrid Barajas, Spain during the Summer 2019 season.

According to the Nordic leisure carrier, effective July 16 2019, it will start daily flights to Newark followed by Toronto Pearson (4x weekly) on August 16, and Boston (3x weekly) on August 17. Operations are on-board B737-9 equipment.

“Having operated routes between Northern Europe and Spain for quite some time now, we are thrilled to bring low-fare transatlantic flights to Madrid. We see strong and growing demand for affordable long-haul flights, and we believe this will not only provide more opportunities for travellers but will also bring more North American tourists to Spain,” Primera Air Chief Commercial Officer, Anastasija Visnakova, said in a statement.

The addition of the Spanish capital brings to six the number of transatlantic gateways Primera Air will operate, the others being London Stansted, Paris CDG, Brussels National, Berlin Tegel, and Frankfurt Int'l.
