Cape Air (9K, Hyannis) has announced it expected the delivery of the first eight of its Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM (Capua) P2012 Travellers in January or February 2019. President Linda Markham said at the Regional Airline Association conference that the carrier would initially operate the aircraft in New England.

Some of the initial routes where the P2012 could be deployed include its bases at Hyannis, Provincetown, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, as well as regional airports in Maine and Vermont.

"As we get more airplanes, we will start to diversify and put them in more regions," Markham said, as reported by Flightglobal.

Cape Air has a firm order for twenty P2012s with a further eighty options. It is the global launch customer for the P2012, a new twin-piston 11-seater. Cape Air will use the aircraft to replace its Cessna (twin piston) 402s.

As a Part 135 carrier, Cape Air would only sell nine seats to passengers and keep an option of flying with a two-person crew.
