Adria Airways (Ljubljana) is mulling launching its maiden intercontinental route to Dubai as a part of its planned network expansion, Chief Commercial Officer Christian Schneider told Aktuality.sk.

Among other destinations floated by Schneider there were a point in Italy and more airports in south-western Europe.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, the Slovenian flag carrier currently operates an exclusively European network, basing its aircraft at Ljubljana, Pristina, and soon Paderborn/Lippstadt. Adria operates three A319-100s, three CRJ700s (including one wet-leased to Luxair), nine CRJ900s (two wet-leased to Austrian Airlines), and six Saab 2000s.

While Ljubljana does not currently have a direct service to Dubai, in the former Yugoslav countries Emirates serves Zagreb Franjo Tuđman, while flydubai operates to Belgrade (and replaces Emirates in Zagreb in the winter).
