Aviastar Mandiri (VIT, Jakarta Halim) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dirgantara Indonesia (Bandung) for twenty N219s which are to be used for flights to remote isolated areas.

A statement said the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Indonesia Business and Development (IBD) Expo 2018 in Surabaya last week.

The N219 is a locally-developed 19-seater turboprop which is currently undergoing final certification testing ahead of its proposed entry into service within the next 24 months.

For its part, Aviastar Mandiri operates three DHC-6-300s and three BAe 146-200s on scheduled passenger flights in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua.
