Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International) has announced in an internal communique that it would cut about 100 management jobs, including layoffs, restructuring, and not filling open vacancies, the Seattle Times has reported.

"We need to make some difficult, but necessary, management reductions to more efficiently support our frontline employees and better align our costs with our current revenue realities," Vice-President (Human Resources) Andy Schneider wrote in a leaked memo.

Alaska Airlines confirmed that the cuts would not affect any frontline employees, such as flight deck and cabin crews, airport employees, and other staff dealing with operations.

The Seattle-based holding currently employs around 22,000 staff members across its whole group, including Alaska Airlines, former Virgin America (San Francisco), and regional subsidiary Horizon Air (QX, Seattle Tacoma International).
