Swoop (Hamilton, ON) has commenced flights to the United States after having been granted the requisite approvals from the US Department of Transportation (DOT).

The Canadian low-cost carrier has had to defer the launch of flights to its southern neighbour after failing to secure the necessary rights in time for an October 11 inaugural service.

As such, its paperwork completed, Swoop ran its first commercial service to the US - flight WO 768 Edmonton International-Phoenix Williams Gateway - on Saturday, October 27.

According to the ch-aviation schedules module, the WestJet (WS, Calgary) unit will also connect Edmonton with Las Vegas Harry Reid as well as Abbotsford with Las Vegas, and Hamilton, ON with Fort Lauderdale International, Orlando International, Tampa International, and Las Vegas.
