Air Namibia (Windhoek International) has resumed scheduled passenger flights to Zimbabwe after a High Court in Harare lifted an attachment order against the carrier's property and aircraft.

Air Namibia suspended service to both Harare International and Victoria Falls on October 6 after the Sheriff of the High Court briefly impounded E145 V5-WEB (msn 145440), wet-leased from Westair Aviation, as part of a USD1 million lawsuit brought against the carrier by a Zimbabwean family earlier this year. Air Namibia subsequently appealed the ruling which had given the family carte-blanche to seize the airline's assets and property in Zimbabwe as compensation for emotional trauma suffered as a result of being kept at Windhoek International for two days in June 2017.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 26, Air Namibia said the High Court had granted an upliftment order against the seizures paving the way for it to resume flights to Harare (3x weekly) and Victoria Falls (6x weekly) effective Sunday, October 28.

"We are confident that this matter will come to a conclusion soon and trust that Air Namibia can count on your continued support," it said.
