Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) has announced it will launch maiden scheduled services to two airports in Paraná state, namely Pato Branco and Toledo, PR in January 2019. Currently, neither of the two airports sees any regular air traffic.

The Brazilian airline will serve each of the airports 1x weekly out of Curitiba International, using ATR72-600 equipment. Operations are due to commence on January 9, 2019 to Toledo and a day later to Pato Branco.

"We believe in the potential of both cities. Initially, our operations will take place weekly. As soon as the airports are certified by ANAC [the Brazilian CAA], we will offer five weekly flights to Pato Branco and six to Toledo. In addition, Paraná is very important for Azul and therefore we are always analyzing the possibility of expanding our operations in the state," Director of Network Planning Daniel Tkacz said.

Paraná is currently Azul's third-largest state by the number of operations, after São Paulo and Minas Gerais. In Paraná, the airline already serves Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu International, Londrina Jose Richa, Maringá, Cascavel, and Ponta Grossa, the ch-aviation capacity module shows.
