Jeju Air (7C, Jeju) has placed a firm order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for forty B737-8s with options for ten more jets.

According to a stock market disclosure, deliveries will tentatively run from 2022 through to 2026 and will be used to replace Jeju Air's existing fleet of thirty-nine B737-800s. In addition, Jeju Air has the right to convert an unspecified number of the order into larger B737-10s.

The Korean LCC has previously said it will also induct its first B737 MAX 8s, presumably on lease, in the second half of 2019.

The MAX 8's range will allow Jeju Air to open up destinations such as Phuket, Singapore Changi, Penang, Langkawi, and Praya Lombok International while the MAX 10s would be suitable for service to Chiang Mai, Bangkok Don Mueang, Phu Quoc, and Manado.
