Air Caraibes Atlantique (CAJ, Paris Orly) has announced plans to begin passenger charter flights to the United States later this year.
In its application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for Exemption Authority and a Foreign Air Carrier Permit, the French carrier said only that it intended to commence charter service to the United States using A330-300 and A350-900 equipment starting April 1 of this year.
Air Caraibes Atlantique operates a fleet of two A330-200s, four A330-300s, and two A350-1000s for and on behalf of its Guadeloupe-based Air Caraibes (TX, Pointe à Pitre) parent carrier. Air Caraïbes executive chairman Patrick Malval told Tourmag last week that it will add a third A350-900 in July for its Paris Orly-Cayenne route followed by its first A350-1000 in December. Two more A350s will deliver in 2020 and 2021.
A unit of Groupe Dubreuil, Air Caraibes specializes in scheduled flights throughout the Caribbean as well as between France and the Caribbean. Aside from the Airbus widebodies, it itself also operates two ATR72-500s and two -600s.
