Germany's Zeitfracht Gruppe has announced plans to acquire an unspecified shareholding in Blue Air (Romania) (BLA, Bucharest Henri Coanda).

A review of the German Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt) register shows the privately-owned logistics specialist opened a merger docket for the "acquisition of joint control of Blue Air Aviation SA, Bucharest, Romania" on January 14.

Zeitfracht declined to comment on the size of the stake being pursued in the privately-owned airline given ongoing proceedings.

Should the acquisition go through, it would add to Zeitfracht's growing portfolio of aviation-related investments. The firm already controls Germany's WDL Aviation (Cologne/Bonn) and also acquired Leisure Cargo from Air Berlin (1991) as part of the latter's liquidation proceedings.

It is recalled that ahead of this development, Blue Air, in August last year, changed its articles of association from a limited liability company (S.C. Blue Air - Airline Management Solutions S.R.L.) to a joint-stock company (Blue Air Aviation S.A.).
