IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) parent InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. has signed a 20-year land leasing contract with the operator of Bengaluru International airport which will allow the LCC to build its second own maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) base.

The new facility is due to open in 2020 and will be the second IndiGo MRO centre after Delhi International.

The 13,000-square-metre hangar will be able to accommodate two narrowbody aircraft at the same time.

IndiGo CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said that Bangalore, an airport conveniently located in the centre of the southern part of India, will be increasingly important to the LCC's network. The airline is already the largest operator at the airport with 1,074 weekly departures and a 45.4% market share by capacity, the ch-aviation capacity module shows.
