Turkmenistan Airlines (T5, Ashgabat) has been forced to suspend all flights to the European Union (EU) after the bloc's regulatory body revoked its Third Country Operator (TCO) certificate on February 4, 2019.
“The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has suspended Turkmenistan Airlines flights to and from the EU pending confirmation that it meets international air safety standards," the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said in a statement.
At the time of its suspension, Turkmenistan Airlines' EU-based operations entailed Birmingham, GB and London Heathrow in the United Kingdom as well as Frankfurt International in Germany.
The airline has yet to issue a public statement regarding the ban.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Turkmenistan Airlines operates three B717-200s (stored), four B737-700s (of which two are stored), eight B737-800s, four B757-200s (of which two are stored), three B777-200(LR)s, and three Il-76TDs.
Aside from the UK and Germany, it also serves India, Thailand, China, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Belarus, and Russia.
