Thai AirAsia X (XJ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) will launch its first Australian service from Bangkok Don Mueang to Brisbane International on June 25, 2019. The carrier said it will fly 4x weekly using A330-300 aircraft.

The Thai long-haul unit of AirAsia Group currently focuses on services to China and Japan and has not been flying elsewhere recently after giving up services to the Middle East.

The Brisbane service will be supported by the government of Queensland and the local destination management company.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Brisbane's only service to Thailand at this time is Thai Airways International's 4x weekly service to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. None of the other AirAsia Group units serves the Australian city.
