Loganair (LM, Glasgow International) has announced it will start flying from Carlisle in northern England to Dublin International, Belfast City, and London Southend on July 4, 2019.

The Scottish regional carrier will fly to Belfast and Dublin 5x weekly and to London Southend 4x weekly. All flights will be onboard Saab 340B aircraft.

Loganair was initially due to launch Carlisle operations first on July 3, and then on September 3, 2018, but the airport failed to obtain all necessary certifications by these dates. In order to avoid launching flights in the winter low season, the airline delayed them to summer 2019.

Carlisle Lake District Airport last saw scheduled service in 1993. It serves the popular Lake District in northern England, nestled between Liverpool and Manchester in the south and Scotland in the north. The area does not have any other commercial airport.

In anticipation of the resumption of regular flights, the airfield rebuilt its main runway 07/25 and constructed a new taxiway and terminal. The airport is owned by Stobart Group, which also owns London Southend.
