Norwegian Air International (Dublin International) opened a new base in Billund in Denmark on April 1, 2019, with a single B737-800 based out of the airport.

After the opening of the base, the Irish unit of Norwegian Group launched scheduled flights from Billund to Malaga (initially 2x weekly, increasing to 4x weekly during the summer peak). It will also connect the airport with:

On top of the scheduled flights, Norwegian Air International will also operate charter flights from Billund to Chania, Zakinthos, Rhodes, and Kos Hippocrates on behalf of tour operator Bravo Tours.

In addition, the airline launched a new seasonal route to Billund from Barcelona El Prat in March and will launch one from Alicante on April 6. Both services are operated by aircraft based out of the respective airports in Spain.

Billund also sees a new 1x weekly service to Copenhagen Kastrup operated by Norwegian on behalf of its Irish subsidiary.

According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Norwegian and Norwegian Air International currently have a combined market share of just 5.8% by capacity at Billund.
