The US Department of Transportation (DOT) extended the period for taking action on the complaint of Kalitta Air (K4, Detroit Willow Run) concerning slot allocation rules in the Netherlands to give the parties more time to resolve their differences.

"It is our understanding that discussions have been taking place between Kalitta, Airport Coordination Netherlands (ACNL), and other Dutch authorities concerning the slot issues raised in Kalitta’s complaint. Furthermore, the Department has been working with the Dutch Government in an effort to resolve this matter. Given these circumstances, we believe that the public interest is best served by extending for 30 days the deadline for action," the DOT said.

The new deadline has been set for May 1, 2019.

On January 29, 2019, Kalitta Air complained to the DOT that Amsterdam Schiphol, ACNL, and the Dutch government discriminated against the American cargo specialist by denying it slots.
