IAG International Airlines Group has adjusted its A350-900 order backlog allocating four aircraft that were originally heading to Aer Lingus (EI, Dublin International), to Iberia (IB, Madrid Barajas) instead.

According to Airbus's March 2019 order book, Aer Lingus is now expecting five A350-900s while Iberia is due a total of twenty of which three have thus far been delivered.

Under its original plan, Aer Lingus had intended to take delivery of its first A350s in 2014 only to defer that date.

As it stands, the Irish carrier operates a widebody fleet of five A330-200s and eight A330-300s. Former CEO Steven Kavanagh said in November last year that Aer Lingus would add three incremental A330s (variant unspecified), two of which would arrive in 2020 followed by two more in 2022 (at which time one existing A330-200 will be removed). These additional A330s will be used on flights to US Mid-/Northwestern markets.
