KD Air (Qualicum) voluntarily shut down operations in February 2019 and plans to restart after an inspection scheduled for late April.

"The company will continue its temporary closure of operations until mid-April, due to completing our aircraft reliability improvements, and continuation of revamping our overall flight scheduling services, booking systems, and customer communication experience," President Steve Foley said in a letter dated late March.

In a subsequent update posted on April 3, Foley clarified that the airline was "scheduled to receive our regulatory inspections with the intentions of resuming our operations during the third week of April, 2019."

KD Air offered charter services throughout British Columbia and Alberta as well as daily scheduled flights to and from Vancouver International, Qualicum, Gillies Bay, Tofino, Powell River, and Port Alberni. It operated a fleet of Piper (twin piston) PA-31-350 Chieftains, PA-31-310 Navajos, and Cessna (single piston) 172s.
