Jazeera Airways (J9, Kuwait) chief executive Rohit Ramachandran has told the Business Standard that his carrier plans to add London as one of six new destinations later this year with flights expected to launch as early as June.

Ramachandran has confirmed to ch-aviation that Jazeera will operate to London Gatwick, making use of the longer range of its first A320-200neo.

The Kuwaiti carrier hopes to also attract a significant number of connecting passengers from India for its new London service that will be launched alongside new routes to Kathmandu, Dhaka, Al Ain, Bodrum Milas, and Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen.

Jazeera currently serves Baku Heydar Aliev International, Istanbul Airport, and Tbilisi in Europe but has no longer flights to the continent. In total, it currently operates from Kuwait to twenty-five destinations in fifteen countries using a fleet of eight leased A320-200 and one A320neo.

The Kuwait-London market is currently served by Kuwait Airways (KU, Kuwait) offering ten weekly B777-300(ER) services to Heathrow and British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) offering a daily B777-200(ER) service to the key London gateway.
