KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL, Amsterdam Schiphol) will launch a new route from Amsterdam Schiphol to Bangalore International with the onset of the Winter 2019/20 season, taking over a service previously operated by the carrier's commercial partner Jet Airways (JAI, Mumbai International), Luchtvaartnieuws.nl has reported.

The Dutch flag carrier will operate the route 3x weekly using B787-9 aircraft, KLM Director in the Netherlands Harm Kreulen confirmed. Jet Airways used to fly the route daily using A330-300 aircraft prior to its grounding in mid-April.

KLM previously said it will increase capacity to Mumbai International and Delhi International. The Dutch carrier had an extensive code-share agreement with Jet Airways.

Air France (AF, Paris CDG) currently operates daily between Paris CDG and Bangalore using A330-200 aircraft. The ch-aviation capacity module shows that the Indian airport also sees services to Europe operated by Lufthansa (daily to Frankfurt International), Air India (3x weekly to London Heathrow), and British Airways (daily to Heathrow).

Meanwhile, Virgin Atlantic (VS, London Heathrow) has announced is planning to relaunch its Heathrow-Mumbai route on October 27, 2019. The British carrier will fly the route daily using B787-9 aircraft. Virgin Atlantic currently operates daily between Delhi and Heathrow.
