Southern Airways Express (9X, Memphis International) will launch three seasonal routes from Nantucket, MA, using Cessna (single turboprop) C208B Grand Caravans.

The carrier will connect the island, a popular tourist destination, with three airports on the Atlantic coast of mainland United States, namely New Haven (3x weekly from June 14), Norwood (5x weekly from June 13), and Providence (7x weekly from June 13).

The flights will be the first scheduled passenger service at Norwood, an airport located in the suburbs of Boston.

All three routes are due to end by October 14, 2019.

Nantucket currently sees 227 weekly scheduled departures, of which 188 are operated by regional specialist Cape Air (9K, Hyannis). JetBlue Airways, Tradewind Aviation, Delta Air Lines, and American Airlines also serve the island. In the peak summer season, the number of weekly scheduled departures nearly doubles to 428.
