The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has issued a warning to owners that it will auction off select abandoned and derelict aircraft currently stored at Nairobi Wilson Airport unless they are removed within 30 days effective June 10, 2019.
In a formal notice, the regulator specified the following aircraft and their last known owners:
- BAe 748 S2-ADL (msn 1773): IAP Group Australia;
- Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 200 5Y-SJB: Capital Airlines (Kenya);
- Piper (twin piston) 31 5Y-ROH: Transworld Safaris;
- Dash 7 5Y-BMJ (msn 83): Kenya Racing Team;
- Dash 7 5Y-BPD (msn 32): AirKenya;
- Fokker 27 5X-FFD (msn 10530): Fly540 Uganda;
- Beech (twin piston) 55 Baron 5Y-AUS: Arvin Pahwa/Queensway Air Services;
- Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 200 5Y-BPJ: Knight Aviation (Kenya);
- Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 90 5Y-NBB: Neils B. Brvel c/o AirTraffic Africa;
- Piper (twin piston) 23 5H-SKT: Phoenix;
- Commander 560F 5Y-NCF (msn 1079-30): John J. Hessel;
- Fokker 27 5Y-BTD (msn 10154): Profile Investments;
- Let 410 9Q-CIY (msn 831020): Safe Air;
- Beech (twin piston) 55 Baron 5Y-PEA: Superior Aviation;
- BN-2 Islander 5H-KLA (msn 595): Tandrill Limited.
The KCAA said proceeds from the sale would be used to defray expenses incurred as a result of the aircraft's prolonged storage at Wilson airfield. The sale is part of an overall effort to improve safety at Kenyan airports.
