Armenia Airways (6A, Yerevan), which secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Armenian General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA) in July 2018, has announced its first route, to Tehran Imam Khomeini.

The 3x weekly route between the Armenian and Iranian capitals will start on June 15, to increase to a daily service from June 24, the company said on Facebook, and will be operated by a BAe 146-300.

"We are happy to announce that Armenia Airways is starting the regular flights Yerevan-Tehran-Yerevan from June 15. The flights will be on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. From 24 June the flights will be every day," the message said, adding that a one-way ticket costs from AMD 69,000 dram (USD144).

“This is the first time that our airline will operate a flight. We currently have two aircraft but we will use only one for now. It is a 112-seat plane,” Armenia Airways CEO Arlen Davudyan told ArmenPress on June 3.

According to ch-aviation fleets, Armenia Airways has three aircraft. Its single twenty-eight-year-old BAe 146-300, EK14601, msn E3193, was previously operated by Romanian charter carrier Aviro Air. Its two A310-300s, EK31001 (msn 636) and EK31002 (msn 644), were previously operated by Romanian flag carrier TAROM. EK31001 is currently undergoing maintenance at Tehran Mehrabad.

Mahan Air (W5, Tehran Mehrabad) already connects Tehran Imam Khomeini and Yerevan, with seven weekly frequencies.
