The Thai Commercial Aviation Committee has considered adopting a new regulation which would make it easier for commercial airlines to obtain licences for non-scheduled operations, The Bangkok Post has reported.

Committee chairman and Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith explained that the new law would allow commercial airlines to apply for a licence to operate sightseeing charter flights, as well as to run utility flights for activities such as cloud-seeding.

The government believes there is a growing demand for non-scheduled operations in Thailand both for the purposes of tourism and the general economy.

The draft law will shortly be presented for final approval by the minister, before being tabled in the parliament. No timeline for the expected entry into effect of the new law was given.
