easyJet (London Luton) will wet-lease an E190LR from Germany's WDL Aviation (Cologne/Bonn) starting on August 1, 2019.
The German carrier said in a statement that the Embraer regional jet, D-ACJJ (msn 19000114) will be based out of London Gatwick. The duration of the wet-lease contract was not disclosed.
WDL Aviation currently operates two active E190LRs which are wet-leased to HOP! (France) (A5, Paris CDG) and Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa). The German airline is also in the process of adding a third E190. It also operates three BAe 146-200s and has three BAe 146-300(QT)s and one BAe 146-300 in storage.
easyJet itself does not operate any regional jets. The airline's fleet consists of 125 A319-100s, 169 A320-200s, twenty-seven A320-200neo, and six A321-200neo. All aircraft are operated through easyJet's subsidiaries easyJet Europe (EC, Vienna), easyJet Switzerland (DS, Geneva) and easyJet UK (U2, London Luton). The LCC also wet-leases two A320s each from SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga) and SmartLynx Airlines Estonia (MYX, Tallinn Lennart Meri).
