Starlux Airlines (JX, Taipei Taoyuan) has been granted its first route authorities ahead of its planned early 2020 launch date.

According to the Central News Agency (CNA), the Civil Aeronautics Administration of Taiwan (CAAT) granted the nascent carrier rights to operate scheduled flights from Taipei Taoyuan to the following destinations:

In terms of charter rights, it has been granted route authorities for flights from Taichung Ching Chuan Kang to Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai. The airline has also applied for rights to serve Vietnam.

StarLux spokesman Nieh Kuo-wei told the Nikkei news agency last week that the start-up expects to make its debut on January 25, 2020, serving "three to four routes" in Southeast Asia. Operations will be onboard a fleet of three A321neo.
