Air Peace (P4, Lagos) is planning to launch services to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, India, and Guangzhou in the near future, Chairman Allen Onyema said during the launch of the carrier's route to Sharjah.
"We might be doing Johannesburg and India almost at the same time [in August] or at most in September. So at most second week of September. We are looking forward to discussing with Air India which is key so they can fly our passengers beyond India... We are going to Guangzhou in November," Onyema was quoted as saying by the Daily Trust.
Onyema said that the airline already had the approval to operate into Johannesburg and was in discussion with potential airline partners in South Africa.
The carrier launched its 3x weekly service from Lagos to Sharjah on July 5. Flights are operated with the carrier's only active B777-300, 5N-BUU (msn 29064). The route is Air Peace's maiden intercontinental service and only the second international, on top of its 8x weekly flights from Lagos to Accra in Ghana.
Onyema said that the airline will add three more widebody aircraft by the end of the year, although it is unclear whether he included the two units currently in maintenance.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, the carrier also has one B777-200(ER), 5N-BVE (msn 29324). The unit had been active on domestic routes in Nigeria since January 2019 but was subsequently ferried to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion for maintenance on June 27, 2019, and has remained inactive since, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.
The third widebody, a B777-300 5N-BWI (msn 33375) is undergoing maintenance at Lagos airport and has yet to be deployed in commercial service.
Air Peace also operates eight B737-300s, five B737-500s, one Do328-300 for VIP services, and six E145s which are operated by its regional unit Air Peace Hopper (P4, Lagos).
