Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) has announced it will terminate two transatlantic routes to the United States and reduce ten other services to seasonal summer-only schedules.

The Nordic LCC said in a statement that it will "discontinue indefinitely" services from Stockholm Arlanda to Orlando International and from London Gatwick to Las Vegas Harry Reid. Both routes were previously suspended at the end of March 2019 and were tentatively planned to restart in the Winter 2019/20 season. The former route was operated by Norwegian using B787-8s and the latter by Norwegian UK (London Gatwick) using B787-9s.

The ten other routes that will be operated as summer seasonal services include:

The carrier said that some of the affected routes "might return for the winter season 2020/21".

"After a thorough review of our long-haul network and given that some U.S. markets are highly seasonal, it is a natural step to focus our operations this winter on counter-seasonal routes that are more profitable, such as Asia, and also looking into growing our South America network," Senior Vice President (Commercial Long-Haul & New Markets) Matthew Robert Wood said.

Norwegian will also move its year-round services from Barcelona El Prat and Paris CDG from Oakland International to San Francisco, starting with the Winter 2019/20 season. The routes will operate 2x weekly each in the winter season, down from the current 3x and 4x weekly, respectively. In March 2019, the carrier moved its London Gatwick service from Oakland to San Francisco.

Flights from Copenhagen, Oslo, Rome, and Stockholm will continue to operate to Oakland.

The carrier said that following the adjustments, it will operate 113 weekly flights from Europe to the United States in the Winter 2019/20 season, down from 188 in the Summer 2019 season and 150 in Winter 2018/19.
