Atlas Air (5Y, New York JFK) has announced that it will expand its cargo base at Cincinnati International airport with a new facility in Erlanger, Kentucky. The new facility is expected to open in 2021.

The American cargo specialist said in a press release it plans to invest USD34.1 million in the project and expects to create almost 600 new jobs. This will triple its workforce in Kentucky as it currently employs just over 300 staff at its Cincinnati base in nearby Florence.

Once the Erlanger operation is up and running, Atlas Air will relocate its staff there from Florence.

While Atlas Air's own headquarters are in New York, the carrier's wholly-owned subsidiary Southern Air (Cincinnati International) is currently registered in Florence, KY.
