Cathay Dragon (Hong Kong International) has announced in a press release that it will relaunch seasonal winter-only services to Tokushima in the Winter 2019/20 season, becoming the only carrier offering international flights to the Japanese airport.

The regional subsidiary of Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) will operate from Hong Kong International to Tokushima 2x weekly starting on November 9, 2019. Flights will be onboard A320 aircraft and are still subject to governmental approvals.

Cathay Dragon already operated seasonal flights to Tokushima in the Winter 2018/19 season and ended them on March 30, 2019, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.

Tokushima is located on Shikoku Island and currently sees exclusively domestic traffic operated by JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) and ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda), the ch-aviation schedules module shows.

Cathay Dragon will also launch a new seasonal route to Niigata on October 30, 2019. 2x weekly flights will operate onboard A330-300 aircraft. Niigata already sees scheduled flights to China, Taiwan, and South Korea, but does not have any direct connections to Hong Kong.

In Japan, Cathay Dragon currently serves Tokyo Haneda, Fukuoka, and Okinawa Naha. Cathay Pacific additionally flies to Komatsu, Nagoya Chubu, Osaka Kansai, Sapporo Chitose, and Tokyo Narita, as well as to Haneda.
