American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) has said in a press release it will launch its first African route, to Casablanca Mohamed V, on June 4, 2019.

The seasonal route from Philadelphia International will operate 3x weekly using B757-200s. Royal Air Maroc (AT, Casablanca Mohamed V) is in the process of joining Oneworld, the alliance of which American Airlines is a member.

"We look forward to working with Royal Air Maroc when they join oneworld in January, which will allow for even more connections further into Africa to places like Marrakech, Lagos, and Accra. This is only the beginning," Vice-President (Network and Schedule Planning) Vasu Raja said.

Royal Air Maroc currently operates to Boston, Miami International, New York JFK, and Washington Dulles in the United States. No other airlines operate services between Morocco and the US, the ch-aviation schedules module shows.

The American carrier said it will also resume year-round services to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion, flying 3x weekly from Dallas/Fort Worth starting on September 9, 2020. Flights will be onboard B787-9 aircraft.

American Airlines will also launch seasonal flights from Chicago O'Hare to Kraków John Paul II International, Budapest, and Prague Václav Havel on May 7-8, 2020. Services will operate 5x weekly to Krakow and Prague and 4x weekly to Budapest using B787-8 aircraft.

American Airlines currently serves Budapest and Prague seasonally out of Philadelphia. It does not fly to Krakow. LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) operates to Chicago O'Hare from Krakow (which is the only Northern American route from the airport) and Budapest. Prague does not have a direct service to Chicago.
