Kuwait Airways (KU, Kuwait) has taken delivery of its first A320-200neo after 9K-AKL (msn 8933) arrived in Kuwait from Hamburg Finkenwerder on Saturday, August 31.

The state-owned carrier has 15 of the type on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) of which three are due this year - in each of August, October, and November - with five more due next year (two by May 2020). Airline Board Chairman Youssef Al-Jassem told the Kuna news agency that the aircraft will enter revenue service in "several days time", once all regulatory requirements have been met.

The narrowbody jets will gradually replace Kuwait Airways' existing fleet of eleven A320-200s. According to the ch-aviation fleets module, three are leased from ALAFCO (recent inductees given delays in deliveries of the A320neo), two from DAE Capital, and five from Macquarie AirFinance. One of the jets is owned by the Government of Kuwait and operated for the Kuwait Air Force.
