United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) and Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) will relocate their respective operations from Williston Sloulin International, ND, to new Williston Basin International Airport on October 11, 2019.

The Williston Herald reported that the airport is on course to complete all remaining construction works and obtain certification ahead of its October launch. The new airport will replace Williston's current facility, which is too small to cope with growing traffic to North Dakota premised mainly on a boom in oil exploration in the state.

Currently, United serves Williston 4x daily from Denver International with E145 flights operated by Trans States Airlines (St. Louis Lambert International), while Delta flies 2x daily from Minneapolis/St. Paul using CRJ200s operated by SkyWest Airlines (OO, Salt Lake City). United has already loaded its schedules from the new airport, effective October 11, while Delta has not yet done so.

KXnews.com has since reported that the Williston authorities are currently working on adding Houston, a major oil sector hub, to the network.
