Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) will start operating its 3x weekly service from Denpasar via Medan Kuala Namu to London Heathrow using an A330-900 as of October 29, 2019, Routes Online has reported.

The service will be the carrier's first A330-900-operated route. Currently, it is flown with A330-200s.

The Indonesian flag carrier has orders for fourteen A330-900s direct from the manufacturer. The deliveries are scheduled to start shortly and continue through 2022. Garuda has also recently signed a Letter of Intent covering four A330-800s.

Garuda Indonesia also operates seven A330-200s, seventeen A330-300s, seventy-three B737-800s, ten B777-300(ER)s, eighteen CRJ1000ERs, and thirteen ATR72-600s. It has one grounded B737-8 with orders for a further 49 such units. For the ongoing Hajj season, the carrier has also wet-leased three A330-200s (two from Wamos Air and one from Hi Fly) and three B747-400s from Wamos Air.
