State-owned lessor TGF - Tanzania Government Flight (Dar es Salaam) has signed a firm order agreement with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada for one Dash 8-400.

A press statement said the turboprop, which will be leased to and operated by Air Tanzania (TC, Dar es Salaam), will join three that are already in service and another previously ordered one. Overall, the state-owned carrier will operate a fleet of five Dash 8-400s configured in a 78-seat, dual-lavatory configuration.

Air Tanzania currently operates two A220-300s with orders for two more. It also operates one B787-8 (with a second due from Boeing). In terms of ancillary fleet, it also has access to one Dash 8-300 (inactive) as well as one Fokker 28-3000 and one Fokker 50.

Network wise, Air Tanzania offers extensive coverage of the domestic Tanzanian market as well as Burundi, Zimbabwe, Uganda, the Comoros, and India. Flights to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo were suspended from October 7 until further notice ostensibly as a result of the most recent wave of xenophobic violence to sweep South Africa.
