ZIPAIR (ZG, Tokyo Narita) has taken delivery of its first aircraft in full livery, a B787-8, more than half a year before the low-cost, long-haul carrier's planned launch.

JA822J (msn 34832) was retired by ZIPAIR's parent JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) on September 6, 2019, and subsequently flew to Xiamen the next day. It returned from China to Tokyo Narita wearing the new livery on October 27.

The Japanese start-up is due to launch scheduled flights on May 14, 2020, initially flying from Narita to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. As of July 1, 2020, it will add another daily route to Seoul Incheon. The carrier's initial fleet will encompass two B787-8s the second of which, JA825J (msn 34835), continues to operate for JAL for the time being.

ZIPAIR will equip its B787-8s with up to 280 seats, although it has yet to reveal the detailed configuration.
