Tunisair Express (UG, Tunis) has taken delivery of its first ATR72-600 following the arrival of TS-LBF (msn 1582) in Tunis on Tuesday, November 19.

The new-build ATR - Avions de Transport Régional turboprop is the first of three such aircraft destined for the Tunisian carrier as part of its fleet renewal process. According to an airline statement to the Tunisian press, the second aircraft is due in December while the third is due in April 2020.

Collectively, the three ATR72-600s will be used to replace Tunisair Express's two ATR72-500s, which are 11.9 years old on average, and one 12.3-year-old CRJ900ER. Of the three current aircraft, only one ATR72-500 is active. Tunisair Express is also wet-leasing one E170LR from Jasmin Airways (JAW, Enfidha).

Tunisair Express operates services from Tunis to Djerba, Palermo International, Naples Capodichino, Tozeur, and Malta International. Although it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tunisair (TU, Tunis), it operates under its own code.
