Silver Airways (3M, Fort Lauderdale International) has signed a codeshare agreement with Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson), as the two carriers continue to expand their commercial relationship.

Silver's robust presence in the Carribean market will have no doubt been the main attraction for the US major. Passengers from Silver destinations will also be easily able to connect to Delta’s global network.

The regional airline is based in Fort Lauderdale International, where it is the seventh-largest carrier in terms of weekly frequency according to the ch-aviation capacities module. By contrast, Delta is the fourth-largest carrier in terms of weekly frequency in Fort Lauderdale.

Under the terms of the deal, the codeshare will provide passengers of both airlines connections between the carriers’ respective networks and give them the ability to fly multiple segments operated by both airlines under a single ticket.

Delta’s code (DL) is available on Silver Airways' flights for over 150 Caribbean weekly flights, including those operated from San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin to Anguilla, Antigua, Dominica Melville Hall, Tortola, Nevis, Basseterre, St. Thomas Cyril E. King, St. Croix Henry E. Rohlsen and St. Maarten.

Silver’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Seaborne Airlines (BB, San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin), previously had a codeshare relationship with Delta on its Caribbean network. Those flights are now operated for Silver.

“We are thrilled to welcome Delta Air Lines to Silver Airways’ codeshare family, and are pleased to provide Delta’s customers with Silver’s safe, reliable and customer-friendly service and expanded reach throughout our extensive Caribbean network,” said Silver Airways Chief Executive Officer Steve Rossum.

According to the airline's website, Silver has interline partnerships with American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth), Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International), ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda), Avianca (Bogotá), Bahamasair (UP, Nassau International) and Delta, as well as frequent flyer partnerships with United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) and JetBlue Airways (B6, New York JFK).

The resumption of the regional carrier's route from Fort Lauderdale to Freeport International has recently been delayed until December 19, with sectors between Orlando International, Tampa International and West Palm Beach International and Marsh Harbour, all suspended until February 2020 as the two Bahamian destinations recover from the aftermath of Hurrican Dorian.

It has also recently received its first ATR 72-600 into its fleet (N700SV; msn 1548), which will be introduced into Silver's schedules from December 4 at its Tampa base.
