A "No-Fly Zone" (NFZ) has been imposed on the area where fighting is currently taking place close to Tripoli effective November 23. The announcement has been made after two drones — one American and one Italian — were shot-down near the Libyan capital last week.

According to Alwasat news, a spokesman for the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Major General Ahmed Al-Mosmari, announced the imposition of the NFZ "on and around the area of operations in Tripoli," citing the progress of LNA forces towards the capital. He added that all flights over Tripoli and nearby towns are “prohibited without prior coordination.”

He explained in a press conference, that the ban includes seven sites but excluded Tripoli Mitiga from the ban "for humanitarian purposes," but called for Libyan civil aviation companies and all passengers to abide by the ban.

According to the ch-aviation schedules module, carriers presently scheduled to be serving Mitiga include Afriqiyah Airways (8U, Tripoli Mitiga), Libyan Wings (YL, Tripoli Mitiga), Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga), and Buraq Air (UZ, Tripoli Mitiga). All scheduled services currently operate to/from Misurata located 179 kilometres east of Mitiga.
