Air Alderney (London Biggin Hill) has secured an Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and is currently in discussions with The States of Alderney regarding route licences, which the regional carrier aims to conclude later this month, allowing it to start flights in February 2020.
According to its website, the proposed routes include Alderney to Jersey (both passenger and freight), Lee-on-Solent, Cherbourg, and Guernsey. Schedules and frequencies on these routes are unclear at this stage.
Speaking about the launch, Danny Brem-Wilson Senior, the airline's Managing Director said in a statement: "Finally, some very good news for the people of Alderney regarding air services to and from the island. With all the negative news stories in the media regarding the loss of air routes and or reduced services, it gives us at Air Alderney great pleasure to announce our operational start date of February 2020 for our Alderney to Jersey service.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters, it's taken longer than we all had hoped when we first started this project over two years ago but we truly believe in Alderney's ability to prosper once a sustainable air service has been established, we are very much looking forward to being part of the Alderney story."
Over the past two years, the carrier has tried and failed to launch services, and had been granted authority for the same routes, plus Shoreham by Sea, by The States of Alderney in January 2018. It even delayed its fixed-wing plans in favour of a helicopter service, a move which was also postponed in April 2018.
According to its official Facebook page, Air Alderney plans to use its two BN-2s, G-HEBO (msn 2268) and G-BJED (msn 2119), on its start-up network.
