Bahamasair (UP, Nassau International) resumed scheduled international flights from Marsh Harbour and Freeport International to two destinations in the United States from the middle of December, as the islands continue to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas.
Effective December 13, flight UP281 from Marsh Harbour to West Palm Beach International will be operated 4x weekly by one of the airline's ATR42-600s. According to Flightradar ADS-B data, the sector was flown by the airline until August 31, 2019, the day before Hurricane Dorian struck the islands. No other carrier currently offers direct flights between the two cities.
Starting three days later, Bahamasair returned to the 84-nautical mile (155-kilometre) sector from Freeport to Fort Lauderdale International. Operated by a mixture of the airline's B737-700 and ATR42-600 fleets, the route will be flown 5x weekly.
Bahamasair currently operates a fleet of nine aircraft, according to the ch-aviation fleets module. It has three ATR42-600s, two ATR72-600s, three B737-500s and a sole B737-700 flying on its network.
Resumed during the same week were Silver Airways (3M, Fort Lauderdale International) flights from Fort Lauderdale to Freeport and Marsh Harbour. From December 19, 2019, the US regional carrier is now offering daily flights between Fort Lauderdale and Freeport every day except Tuesdays with two flights on Saturdays. In addition, Silver offers 5x weekly flights between Fort Lauderdale and Marsh Harbour.

Silver Airways offers many routes to the Bahamas, including services to Freeport and Marsh Harbour, but also to Nassau International (from Tampa International), Moss Town, Governors Harbour and Bimini International (all from Fort Lauderdale) and North Eleuthera (from both Fort Lauderdale and Orlando International), according to the ch-aviation schedules module.
In addition, Silver Airways is looking forward to resuming service to Treasure Cay in February 2020, pending the airport’s re-opening.
