Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) will serve Paris Orly for the first time from March 16, 2020, when the Star Alliance carrier commences a 2x daily operation from its Munich hub.
The airline will use a CRJ900 on the 375-nautical mile (695-kilometre) sector to the French capital. The morning service flight LH2244 leaves Germany at 0650L, while the evening service LH2214 departs Munich at 1735L. Passengers from Orly will arrive in Munich at 1030L or alternatively at 2110L on the evening rotation. The service will facilitate connections from its Munich gateway to Lufthansa's flights to North America, Japan and India in the morning and to Asia and Mexico in the evening.
This new service will complement the airline's existing 40x weekly operation to Paris CDG from Munich.
"Paris is one of the most important destinations in the world for the Lufthansa Group. With Paris Orly, our guests for the first time have a direct connection from the south of the metropolis to our Munich hub," Wilken Bormann, Chief Executive Officer Hub Munich, said.
According to the ch-aviation schedules module, Lufthansa also currently offers flights to six other French destinations from its Munich hub - namely Marseilles (20x weekly), Lyon St. Exupéry (18x weekly), Toulouse Blagnac (18x weekly), Nice (16x weekly), Nantes (8x weekly), and Strasbourg Enzheim (3x weekly).
As well as Lufthansa, ultra-low-cost carrier Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) will also begin daily flights from both Budapest and Warsaw Chopin to Orly from March 29, 2020. The airline already offers six destinations on its French network, with regular flights to Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, FR, Bordeaux Mérignac, Lyon Grenoble Alpes Isère, Lyon St. Exupéry, Nice and Paris Beauvais.
Both carriers were awarded slots by French airport slot coordinator COHOR following Aigle Azur's collapse.
