Surinam Airways (PY, Paramaribo International) has announced the addition of its first B777 following the arrival of PZ-TCU (msn 32336) in Paramaribo International from Frankfurt International on December 20.

Formerly in service with Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) as 9V-SVL, the 17-year-old B777-200(ER) is leased from Boeing Aircraft Holding and replaces a single A340-300 the Surinamese carrier had operated. It is recalled that SLM, as the airline is commonly known, is looking to eventually replace the B777 with a B787 at a later stage.

As it stands, while it awaits PZ-TCU's induction into service, SLM relies on wet-leased equipment with B777-200(ER) EC-MUA (msn 28524) from Privilege Style (P6, Palma de Mallorca) having just replaced A340-300 OO-ABA (msn 835), on wet-lease from Air Belgium (KF, Brussels Charleroi), to conduct its sole longhaul service - Paramaribo-Amsterdam Schiphol.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Surinam Airways also operates two B737-700s on scheduled passenger flights spanning Aruba, Brazil, Curaçao, Guyana, the United States, and Trinidad & Tobago.
