Armenia Airways (6A, Yerevan) recommenced its services from Yerevan to Tehran Imam Khomeini on January 14, following a statement made by the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia on using Iranian airspace, according to a post on the airline's Facebook page.

The carrier had previously cancelled its flights to the Iranian capital on January 12 and 13 "due to safety reasons" as a result of the ongoing unrest in the Middle East.

"Our airline has requested and received from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran guarantees for the safe operation of aircraft in the airspace of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the airline declared on a Facebook post on January 13.

The carrier flies its single BAe 146-300, EK14601 (msn E3193), on the route to Tehran. According to the ch-aviation schedules module, the 428-nautical mile (793-kilometre) sector is Armenia Airways' only scheduled route. The route is also flown on a daily basis by Iranian airline Mahan Air (W5, Tehran Mehrabad).

On January 10, Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) announced via its Twitter account that it was cancelling its daily operation to Tehran until January 20.
