FedEx Express (FX, Memphis International) has announced a series of investments, totalling EUR30 million euro (USD33.2 million), at its Paris CDG hub, as well as other French cities, a press release issued on January 20 said.

During FY2020-FY2022, FedEx will invest EUR20 million euro (USD22.1 million) at its European hub in Paris, with the new facilities dedicated to the transport of heavy freight and airway equipment. A previous extension of the CDG hub, announced in 2016, will be operational by May this year.

The remaining EUR10 million euro (USD11 million) will be spent between FY2020-FY2021 on creating new sites near Toulouse and the transformation of parcel sorting systems in Lille and Valence.

"FedEx entered the French market 35 years ago, has grown and now employs 9,000 people in the country," said Rajesh Subramaniam, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of FedEx Corp, attending the Choose France summit. "We chose France to host our European sorting centre, the largest FedEx air hub outside the United States, and have invested continuously in our French operations."

FedEx has a long-standing relationship with ATR - Avions de Transport Régional and as part of its fleet modernisation plan, the express freight airline concluded an agreement in 2017 for the purchase of thirty ATR72-600(F)s, with options for 20 additional aircraft. The delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for 2020.
