TUI fly (Germany) (X3, Hannover) has announced the initial long-haul destinations it will serve from Düsseldorf in the Winter 2020/21 Season, according to a press release issued by the airline. The Caribbean will be the focus, with flights commencing in November.

The airline's new long-haul services will be operated by two 300-seat B787-8s which are set to join the fleet later this year. TUI fly expects to offer around 100,000 seats on the following routes with additional destinations to be picked later:

"By launching long-haul flights, we are opening up new horizons at TUI fly. Our passengers will benefit from a completely redeveloped in-flight product that can be optimally adjusted to their individual needs and preferences," said Oliver Lackmann, Managing Director at TUI fly. "In combination with our modern Boeing 787 jets, which do not only offer excellent passenger comfort and convenience but are also highly carbon-efficient, we are creating a completely new travel experience in the leisure long-haul segment.”

Established in Summer 2007 through the merger between Hapag-Lloyd Express (Cologne/Bonn) and Hapagfly (Hannover), TUI fly is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TUI Group, and carried 7.9 million passengers in 2019.

The German airline currently operates only narrowbody aircraft, namely one wet-leased A319-100, one B737-700 and twenty-nine B737-800s. As such, it is the only TUI Group carrier with no widebody aircraft. All other units - TUI fly (Belgium), TUI Airways, TUI fly (Netherlands), and TUI fly Nordic - operate B767-300(ER)s. All of them also operate B787-8s, while the British and Swedish group airlines also currently fly B787-9s, with TUI fly Nordic wet-leasing four B787-8s and one B787-9 from its UK sister carrier.
