Pel-Air Aviation (PFY, Sydney Kingsford Smith) has secured a 10-year contract for the provision of air ambulance flights on behalf of the New South Wales Ambulance starting in January 2022, parent Rex - Regional Express (ZL, Wagga Wagga) announced in a press release.

The contract will cover five aircraft, pilots, and engineering support for the transport of patients and medical personnel across the state.

"This award is a clear recognition of Pel-Air's undisputed ability to provide safe, reliable and high-quality aeromedical services on fixed-wing aircraft at the most competitive prices," Chairman John Sharp said.

Pel-Air has a similar contract with Ambulance Victoria which is in force through 2023.

According to the Australian aircraft register, Pel-Air currently operates six IAI 1124s, three Saab 340(F)s, one Learjet 35, one Learjet 36, and four Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 200Cs. The King Airs are used for the medevac contract in Victoria. The airline is the charter, cargo, and medevac unit of scheduled regional specialist Rex, which operates one Saab 340A and fifty-six Saab 340Bs, the ch-aviation fleets module shows.
